The first thing you'll need to do is decide what kind of greenhouse you want to build. For the purposes of building with scrap materials, an indoor greenhouse is probably best. The average size of the indoor greenhouse is 4x8 but you can build your scrap greenhouse to suit your preferences. You will definitely want to sketch out your plans before starting to build. You will also need to have the proper tools and supplies on hand. The least you'll need is a hammer, nails, screws, a screwdriver and a power drill.

When choosing scrap materials, go for wood, aluminum and glass. An old window could be the perfect side or base for your greenhouse. Be creative and look for scrap wood, plastic, PVC and glass that can be used for your purposes. There are plenty of advantages to doing this. One, you're saving a great deal of money because shopping at the scrap yard is substantially cheaper than shopping at the hardware store. Two, you are helping the environment by recycling. It's a win-win situation.

If you don't have a lot of building experience, learning how to build a greenhouse from scrap might take some time and effort. You will probably want to get a few books about constructing greenhouses before you are able to build your own scrap greenhouse.
